Rayford Takes Second at Route 66 TORC Event

Appleton, WI (May 16, 2017) - Privateer TORC PRO-Light driver Chad Rayford proved once again why he's a threat to finish on the podium every time he gets the opportunity to race. The Appleton, Wisconsin native took advantage of the close proximity of the TORC weekend in Joliet, Illinois to battle door to door with the best PRO-Light racers in North America.

Chad Rayford's support for the team's race program is Flying Dutchman Off-Road which allows him access to the Vanden Heuvel race shop along with track support from Shawn Morris Off-Road Racing. Another valued partner is the team's exclusive tire supplier, Kenda Tire. Even with a limited budget, this season's partnership with Kenda Tire will allow Rayford to compete at every round of the TORC Series presented by AMSOIL. Practically each time out, the performance of the operation gets well noticed among his peers.

The opening weekend of the TORC Series presented by AMSOIL was no different. The Saturday morning qualifying session saw the red #29 stop the clocks with the third quickest time. His starting position on the inside of the second row would be an important key to a good start.

Saturday afternoon's eighteen lap Round One race quickly turned into a dogfight for the second position with Rayford right in the thick of the battle. Throughout the entire race Rayford and both Kleiman brothers were all trying to occupy the second position. With four laps to go, the #29 Kenda Tire PRO-Light took command of the position and came across the line with a career best second place finish.

Overnight and the next morning Chad inspected the truck made a few important changes in the chassis set-up and looked forward to a repeat performance.

Sunday's Round Two race had Rayford on the front row. When the race went green, it looked like the red Kenda Tire hot rod would have another shot at the podium. Then a large plume of white smoke came out from under the truck. A freeze plug came out of the engine block, empting all the coolant. Needless to say the weekend ended early for the team.

"We were really prepared for this weekend and the results showed it," remarked Chad Rayford. "I have to thank Mike at Kenda Tire, Mike Vanden Heuvel, Shawn Morris, and all my friends and family that support this team. Running a part-time schedule is never easy, but I love this sport along with the long nights at the shop and the other sacrifices made to get this truck to the track is well worth it. Especially when you can celebrate on the podium like we did this weekend."

Chad Rayford thanks all his partners including:
Kenda Tires, Flying Dutchman Off-Road, AMSOIL, FK Rod End, Londerville Steel, National Concrete Cutting, Never Lift Racing, Proformance Diesel Repair, Badger Race Wraps, Auto Trans Design, Lincoln Electric, Boatec Fiberglass, Simpson Race Products, Bobs Engines, KGK Photo and Grip Lock Ties.

Next race is June 10-11 at Elk River Action Track in Elk River, Minnesota. Remember if you can't get to see a TORC event live, each weekend will be streamed live at torcseries.com.
