Keith Steele Continues to Show Speed at Crandon

Madison, Wisc. (Sept. 15, 2014) - Keith Steele continued his quest to race with the premiere PRO-2WD competitors in North America at the TORC season finale at Crandon International Off-Road Raceway. The team with the smallest budget among the TORC PRO-2WD division continued to impress the competition, only to have a very rare mechanical issue prevent the team from its first TORC PRO podium finish.

Earlier in the year, Steele brought out his minimally sponsored PRO-2WD race truck to the June event in Crandon. At the event, the former multi-time Sportsman champion represented himself well with a very respectable fifth and seventh place finishes. Since then the team made a few changes to the race truck as a podium finish was on their minds.

The forty-fifth anniversary of off-road racing at Crandon, saw the entire PRO race program cancelled as heavy rains hit the area Friday night and Saturday morning. This left Keith Steele with only one shot at the podium.

The land rush start saw sixteen racers line up for the final race of the TORC Series presented by AMSOIL. The start saw Steele put his #29 black PRO-2WD Chevy into the top five in the opening lap. Quickly Steele was pressing for a spot on the podium. Then just before the halfway mandatory caution, the engine lost power in a cylinder. In order to keep the damage to a minimum Steele pulled off the track ending the season.

Back at the pits, his crew found a broken rocker arm that caused the loss of power. After looking at the early lap times for Keith Steele, the pace he was running would have made him a serious contender for a top three finish.

"The weekend didn't work out like we hoped," remarked Keith Steele. "Without any marketing partners' involvement with our program, our season is extremely limited. I can't remember the last time we had an engine issue, Wolverine builds an awesome powerplant and I can't think of anyone better when it comes to our sport. Even with the budget we have, our lap times keep getting closer to the front. The progress we have made this year with only three rounds of racing is just incredible. If we want to get back to the race track in 2015, we need a marketing partner. We are definitely the small team that can compete on a high level if just given a chance."
